In the Wolof language, it means

"Commitment to the country".

environmental protection and work
with young people in Senegal

In Senegal there is a lot of rubbish lying around everywhere: plastic, paper, bottles, tyres, even car bodies lie in towns and villages, on pastures, in the bushes and also in the sea and on the beaches. Animals on land and sea often eat such waste, which is harmful and sometimes fatal to them. The government pays no attention to the problem. There are people with donkey carts who pick up the rubbish from the houses and the residents pay for it themselves. This garbage is then taken to places where it is burned openly.

There is only one waste incinerator in all of Africa and it is in Ethiopia.

But most people just throw the trash away.

And there are many young people in Senegal who have no job and no income. ...

"I am a passionate cook and nature gives us all the ingredients for a good meal. Everything we need to live: plants, animals, water, healthy soil, fresh air. It is therefore important that we protect them and keep them clean.

We have a big ecological problem in Senegal. We should protect our resources better. I have lived in Switzerland for many years and I have learned to appreciate these values here.

Senegal is close to my heart and that's why I'm involved:

Yes, Reewmi."

“I see important development potential in the project.

Young people without work are socially involved and together they develop an awareness of their environment.”

"I like

on this project that Alboury just started

because it needs that.

Although

the mountains of waste are huge and you might think that's a drop in the bucket.

But it's about doing it together with the local people who see meaning in it.

And that there are more and more.

It's also about

to always develop the project a little further ...
